An Escort’s Life Isn’t Just a Joy Ride

15.05.14

Sure, the money’s great and sometimes the activities are a lot of fun, but if you thought being an escort was an easy ride, then you’ve got another thing coming. Although controlling your own schedule is often cited as a luxury, as well as having no one to answer to (for independent escorts at least), the job itself is still that: a job!

The notion of freelancing is ideal for many people, but this lifestyle requires a lot of self-discipline and people who are incapable of motivating themselves never succeed for long working on their own. In most fields, however, whether you’re employed or operating as a freelancer, there are several things that you can get away with now and then, which are a faux pas in the escorting world.

Bear in mind that there is a difference between “can do” and “should do”. Although escorts (independent ones at least) can do anything they want since they are private contractors, this does not mean that their actions will necessarily make sense business-wise.

1. Escorts cannot be late or not show up at all. Standing a client up has got to be one of the worst moves ever as an escort. It will usually not involve losing a single customer, but several. Bad reviews can mean the quick end of a companion’s career. If you are late or do not show up at all, that can indicate a lack of seriousness to your customers, which could translate into a fear of being found out. After all, how can they trust you with their privacy if they can’t trust you to actually arrive on time? If you have a problem and cannot make it, try to let your clients know somehow, and make it up to them on another date to avoid bad publicity.

2. Escorts cannot refuse to offer what they advertise. If you advertise a certain service, then you should do it. Your ultimate goal as an escort is to please your clients, and if they come to you expecting something that you are no willing to offer, then it’s quite possible that will make them angry; regardless of whatever else you propose. So remember to advertise only that which you agree to do and mention your limits from the get-go.

3. Leaving on the job. As if not showing up at all weren’t bad enough, leaving an appointment before the previously settled ‘end time’ is something no professional escort should do unless her client did or said something to warrant her leaving.

Although being an independent escort comes with a lot of perks such as making your own schedule, and not having a direct boss, it is still a job that requires diplomacy and a keen business sense. After all, the most famous companions are absolute professionals.
